1. The bed is 2" wider and 3" longer than a standard sized mattress
2. The length for a Queen or King is 83"
3. The width for a Queen is 62" and King is 79"
4. The bottom of the sides and ends of the platform frame are 8.5" above the floor and the edges of the platform frame are 3.5" thick
5. The height from the floor to the mattress bottom and top of the support slats is 12"
6. The top of the head board is 16" above the top of the slats; 28" above the floor - but can be special ordered at different heights
7. The distance from the back of the head board with stiffener to the opening for the first drawer near the head end is 15.75". This is enough space for a bedside table made for this space without blocking pulling out the drawer.
8. The two leg beams are continuous wood that spans the width of the bed and from the floor to the bottom of the platform. The top view of the leg beam toward the head end is shown in photo 7. That photo also shows how open the space is under the bed.
9. The drawers are opened via the lip on the top and bottom of the drawer face
10. Drawers glide on wheels that roll on the floor that are shown in photo 8. The drawers can be moved away from the bed and the space under the bed becomes totally empty except for the two leg beams.
11. We don’t recommend using these drawers on a shag or very thick carpet as the wheels can get caught in the carpet strings
12. Drawer boxes are made from a light color hardwood such as Maple, Poplar or Bass
13. The drawer box bottoms are made of high quality 1/4" plywood
14. The bed is a platform configuration for use without a box spring. 20 hardwood slats are provided to support the mattress.
15. The drawer sides are 7.3" tall with the inside depth at 6". For a Queen or King the drawer widths are 24". The total length of both drawers added together is half of the mattress width.

We use only solid hardwood sourced from forests in the Appalachian region of the United States. No veneers or compressed particle boards are used. High quality USA made plywood is used in drawer bottoms and cabinet backs and some interior drawer support structure. The wood that is not normally seen (such as mattress support slats) is a different hardwood species.

Our standard finish is Tung Oil. This creates a beautiful, highly durable and easy to maintain finish that brings out the natural character and unique grain patterns of our hardwoods. Our hardwood is from the forests in the Appalachian region of the United States that have been sustainably harvested for hundreds of years. Wood is a natural product and as a result grain patterns and variation in color and character in the wood are different in each piece of furniture and will not be an exact match with the listing photos. The unique color, grain and appearance are part of the unique one-of-a-kind qualities of your furniture.
