Boring tiny tunnels in Maple trees, the Ambrosia Beetles bring with them the Ambrosia fungi, causing discoloration in the form of stunning streaks of blue, gray, and brown in the area around the tunnels.
Not to fear, the Ambrosia Beetles are long gone by time the wood is made into furniture! Most if not all of these tiny beetles are gone by the time the logs are milled into dimensional lumber. The Maple wood is then kiln dried, where the wood is brought to a specific temperature and humidity inside a kiln, which not only kills any remaining beetles but brings the wood to the correct moisture level to be turned into long lasting furniture.
