Slanted headboard platform bed with wide platform extensions. This bed has extensions that reach 5″ past the foot and side edges of a standard size mattress and a large headboard with a subtle 8 degree angle away from the bed. Both a mattress and Tatami Mat work nicely with this bed. The bed shown in the photos is 8″ from the floor, but please note that you can order taller sides, such as 10″ or 12″ for a small upcharge.

Slanted headboard platform bed approximate dimensions:

1. The bed is 11″ wider and 11″ longer than a standard sized mattress
2.  The top of the trim surrounding the mattress is 8″ from the floor
3.  The approximate width of the top board on the top of the sides and ends is 5″ at the sides and foot end
4.  The top of the headboard is 38″ from the floor
5.  The headboard is made of two parts that butt together.
6.  The headboard is slanted (away from the the mattress) by 8 degrees
7.  The bed is for use without box springs. The mattress rests on 20 slats. The top of the slats is .5″ below the top of the sides.
8.  Queen and larger bed sizes have a center support under the slats. The space between the slats is 1.5″.
9.  If you want a bed that fits a tatami mat that is not a standard bed mattress size, select the size in the list that is the next larger size and type a note with your order stating the specific size of your mat (length, width, thickness).

Build quality

No plywood or veneers are used. The wood that is not normally seen (such as for slats) is a different hardwood species.

Our standard finish is Tung Oil. This creates a beautiful, highly durable and easy to maintain finish that brings out the natural character and unique grain patterns of our hardwoods. Our hardwood is from the forests in the Appalachian region of the United States that have been sustainably harvested for hundreds of years. Wood is a natural product and as a result grain patterns and variation in color and character in the wood are different in each piece of furniture and will not be an exact match with the listing photos. The unique color, grain and appearance are part of the unique one-of-a-kind qualities of your furniture.
