I looked everywhere for a quality solid wood platform bed reminiscent of those we encountered during our travels to Japan. Everything I found was made of cheap particle board or cost several thousands of dollars and still wasn’t exactly what I wanted. After stumbling across this shop on Etsy, Barbara and Lee patiently answered my many questions and I finally submitted a customized order to my exact preferences. After a 10 week wait, the bed was delivered seamlessly curbside in NYC, it was easy to unpack and assemble (though having 2 people is best). Wow! Beautiful work, this thing is solid! No creaks or wobbles and a beautiful finish on the wood that is smooth to the touch. Very pleased to have a bed that will never need replacing and glad to be supporting American craftsmanship. Worth the wait. Will support again.

Build Quality
No veneers or compressed particle boards are used. The wood that is not normally seen (such as for slats) is a different hardwood species.
Our standard finish is Tung Oil. This creates a beautiful, highly durable and easy to maintain finish that brings out the natural character and unique grain patterns of our hardwoods. For an added charge you can have stain applied prior to the Tung Oil finish. More detail can be found at our Finish Options and Stain Choices pages.
Our hardwood is from the forests in the Appalachian region of the United States that have been sustainably harvested for hundreds of years. Wood is a natural product and as a result grain patterns and variation in color and character in the wood are different in each piece of furniture and will not be an exact match with the listing photos. The unique color, grain and appearance are part of the unique one-of-a-kind qualities of your furniture.
Production and sale of this product helps the economy of Appalachia where jobs are scarce and people are skilled in working with natural materials.
