This bed features a platform extension that will protrude 5″ past the edges of a standard size mattress. While a mattress works nicely with this bed, some customers instead choose a Tatami mat which can fit flush with the side frame. The bed shown in the photos is 8″ from the floor to top of sides, but please note that you can order taller sides, such as 10″ or 12″ for a small upcharge (invoiced separately).

Bed with no headboard approximate dimensions:

1. The bed is 11″ wider and 11″ longer than a standard sized mattress
2. The top of the trim surrounding the mattress is 8″ above the floor
3. The approximate width of the top board on the top of the sides and ends is 5″ on all sides
4. The bed is for use without box springs. The mattress rests on 20 slats. The top of the slats is 1″ below the top of the sides.
5. Queen and larger bed sizes have a center support under the slats that is shown in photo 5. The space between the slats is about 1.5″.
6. If you want a bed that fits a tatami mat that is not a standard bed mattress size, select the size in the list that is the next larger size and type a note with your order stating the specific size of your mat (length, width, thickness).
7. All photos show Cherry wood with no stain and finished with Tung Oil.

No veneers or compressed particle boards are used except for high quality plywood in drawer bottoms and cabinet backs and some interior drawer support structure.

Our standard finish is un-stained wood finished with Tung Oil. This creates a beautiful, highly durable and easy to maintain finish that brings out the natural character and unique grain patterns of our hardwoods.

Our wood is from the forests in the Appalachian region of the United States that have been sustainably harvested for hundreds of years. Wood is a natural product and as a result grain patterns and variation in color and character in the wood are different in each piece of furniture and will not be an exact match with the listing photos. The unique color, grain and appearance are part of the unique one-of-a-kind qualities of your furniture.
